HUNTER
OUTDOOR TRAINING
Services & Logistics
Now starting our 5th decade in the outdoor profession
The Team hope you take time to find your way around this compendium of skills advice, services offered, and links to our many other sites and their pages. From the main 'HUNTER Outdoor Training' site you have a choice of the equivalent of about 150 pages, and should you be inclined to join us on our courses, in our research , or training with us as an aspirant instructor, by reading the 30 or so pages of the 'HUNTER Safety' site you will have, together with this logistics one a good idea of our rationale and purpose. The 'HUNTER Norway' site is in excess of 120 pages and is in the process of a major rebuild, and 'HUNTER' Medic - our in-house team teaching section was a new part of the site on-line in 07-08 for the sole purpose of training the Team; but of course you are welcome to learn from it too; please be aware that it is not for the faint-hearted.
Our first-aid commercial arm 'Hunter Medics' went live in Novemeber 08, and we have seen a rapid growth in business instructing emergency aid to many sectors of the community.
We are in existence to bring quality, innovation, and experience to all land based expedition education, courses / training, and research, whether this be mountaincraft, emergency, or survival. We don't like to be 'in' we are always hankering to get out and instruct, lead, test, and innovate.
HUNTER product-tests for some of the world's largest equipment suppliers; our research into expedition safety is at the cutting edge of advanced post-graduate doctoral research; our instructors have encyclopaedic knowledge of equipment, and the retail market - and some of our Team have been in the business since the early 1970s. Our experience extends from Antarctica to Greenland, from China to Africa; we regularly work in the remote mountains of Norway and Sweden, and have won awards for our work there.

North Cape: Arctic Norway 2002
The Team run a variety of courses: from this part of the Logistics site you need to access the following: www.hunteroutdoortraining.com
We essentially run tailor made outdoor courses for clients who come to us with an 'idea' and then ask for help fleshing it out until we get to a delivery of that idea in the form of, for example, a hillcraft or mountain skills course, or a Gifted & Talented residential for secondary school pupils; or a public service course for County Councils; we have also run management training at multi-national corporation level.
Our Instructors are qualified to National Governing Body standards: ML, WGLA, BELA etc., are CRB checked, HSE First Aid qualifed, and have extensive experience.

HUNTER is in partnership with 'The Asheldham Centre', a 14th Century former church in the remote farmland of east Essex. From here we run, amongst other things, a series of Night Navigation Courses and teacher training courses. These are very popular despite both series running throught the winter!

Part of our Asheldham Centre: Main Hall
The Centre is converted to provide 21st century accommodation for up to 28 people in a unique and very old setting. Check the 'Links' above for information about Asheldham - you can hire the Centre without us if you wish - or contract us in for your course whilst you are there.

The 'HUNTER Outdoor Training' site has sections which cover Expedition: [equipment and clothing, Training, Planning], Leadership, Navigation, and Survival. This 'Logistics' site covers First aid, Winter Skills, Food Cooking Nutrition, and Meteorology.
Do use the Blog facility on the various HUNTER pages to send us your views and questions. - or email us at:

The above photograph illustrates just one of a wide range of courses and activities that HUNTER runs in an average year; if there ever was such a thing as 'average' for us. This course was for a group of seven boys who were from a Behavioural Unit needing a challenge; we can't control the weather - but it worked perfectly for us; the conditions were severe.

Planning, preparation, equipment checks and useage, navigation, leadership, safety and risk analysis all need careful consideration on this course.
